All in the Details
Featuring solid brass door inlays and leg details and almost entirely solid walnut, Stella has a very rich feel to it. The carcass is entirely solid walnut, with the doors being MDF core with shop-sawn 3mm (1/8”) thick walnut veneer front and back for the strongest and most stable door possible.
Even the back is a solid walnut frame and panel for extra richness. The base is “floated” from the cabinet to create lift and more dramatic shadows.
Design
Stella, Latin for star, was custom designed to fit an existing space. The overall aesthetic is soft and round yet still crisp, and clean. I wanted to incorporate some brass elements to tie the credenza together with existing fixtures and give the piece some pop with the classic walnut and brass combination.
The brass inlay design on the doors is inspired by the angles of an existing ceiling light fixture to create harmony but also to call attention to the asymmetry of the cabinet doors.
